"Should I use my name or build a brand?"
I get this question at least once a week.
Folks lose sleep over it.
They spend weeks picking a name.
Months picking a logo.
Years picking a color palette.
Meanwhile, their bank account is picking up dust.
So let me save you the trouble.
Here's the cold, hard, slap-you-in-the-face truth:
No one cares.
Not your mom.
Not your dog.
Not that prospect you're dying to close.
Nobody is sitting at home thinking,
"Wow, what a cute little logo. Let me hand this person ten grand."
People care about one thing…
What can you do for them?
That's it.
That's the whole show.
If you can get them more leads, more clients, more money, more time, or more peace of mind,
they will throw cash at you like a Vegas bachelor party.
They won't ask if your brand is a personal name or a fancy business name.
They won't ask if your font is Helvetica or Comic Sans.
They just want the result.
So here is what actually moves the needle.
Do outreach.
Talk to real humans.
Send the DMs.
Hop on the calls.
Create some content.
Share what you know.
Run some ads.
Rinse and repeat.
None of this needs a perfect brand.
None of it needs a brand at all, actually.
You can build the fancy brand later when you have more money coming in.
Right now you probably have a different problem.
You need results.
You need proof.
You need clients who are happy and paying you.
Once you have that, branding becomes a lot more fun.
Like the cherry on top of a very tasty sundae.
But if you try to build the brand first…
You end up with a pretty logo, a slick website, and crickets in your inbox.
A beautiful ghost town.
Nobody visits.
Nobody buys.
Nobody cares.
So stop hiding behind the brand question.
It's a very sneaky form of procrastination dressed up in a nice suit.
Go do the work.
Get the wins.
The brand will build itself on top of your results.
