I used to talk about productivity a LOT.
Like that one friend at the party who won't shut up about their cold plunge.
These days? I keep my mouth shut and mostly talk about client acquisition…
but I'm breaking my silence for this one.
Because when your week is mapped out and you can just follow your calendar like a happy little robot…
Something wild happens to your brain.
It gets quiet. It gets focused. It gets things DONE.
I've tried every shiny productivity hack out there.
Apps.
Planners.
That weird tomato timer thing.
Nothing… and I mean NOTHING… has cranked up my output (and my health) like this one trick.
I chop my day into chunks.
Each chunk gets one job.
Meet the king. The queen. The one and only...
Time blocking. It beats to-do lists into the dirt.
To-do lists let you dream up 47 tasks and pretend you'll do them all by 3pm.
Time blocking makes you face the music.
You HAVE to think about when you'll do the thing. And for how long.
Bonus: When you finish a block, color it green in the cal.
This sounds silly. It's not. Your brain LOVES the little win.
It feels amazing. Like popping bubble wrap for your soul.
And recurring blocks are a cheat code too…
Gym every morning at 7? Block it.
Deep work every Tuesday at 10? Block it.
It forces you to think BEFORE you do.
Most people wake up and just… start swinging…
Putting out fires.
Answering emails.
Being busy for the sake of busy.
Time blocking makes you plan first.
And the best part?
Once you have a list of projects, planning my whole week takes less than 10 minutes.
Adding this to your life is like getting a software update for your brain.
More done.
Less stress.
More time for the good stuff.
Go try it:
- Write down what has to get done
- Slap each task into a time block
- Pick ONE new habit for the quarter
