A lot of founders LOVE the idea of starting a newsletter.

They dream of inboxes lighting up.

Fans hanging on every word.

Replies flooding in like "you changed my life, Mike."

But here's reality…

Most people sending newsletters are basically shouting into a dumpster fire.

Because they don't understand what a newsletter is actually for.

So let me tell you…

Every move in your business should move the needle on revenue.

"But not everything is about money!"

I think yes.

The money you make is a direct scoreboard for the value you're putting into the world.

Impact = Income.

No revenue? Not sustainable.

So yes, I have a newsletter. And yes, you should probably start one.

But only if you know the three jobs it needs to do…

1. Trust

Prove you know your stuff. Solve their problems. Be the answer to their 2am ChatGPT spiral.

2. Top-of-mind awareness

Show up weekly so when they think "I need help," your name fires off in their brain like a Whac-A-Mole on espresso.

3. Clarity on what's next

This one is always missed…

Don't just educate. Point them to the door, and help them open it.

But you can’t do that if you include a million links and things you want them to click on.

You get one chance.

So keep your newsletter, really, really simple.

Include one link with a single ask at the bottom of your value-jam-packed email,

or include a super signature…

Something like:

P.S. Whenever you're ready, here’s how I can help you double your leads in 21 days: Click Here

Subtle. Helpful. Always nudging them one step closer to working together.

"Okay, but how do I even grow a list?"

Lead magnets. A freebie so juicy they'd hand over their sacred email.

They sign up, get the goods, and you let them know…

“Hey, more gold coming every week.”

And anybody who books a call should get added.

From there? Sure, thank-you pages, automated sequences, the whole enchilada.

But the core matters most:

Build trust,

stay top of mind,

show them the next step.

If your newsletter isn't pulling people deeper into your world and generating dealflow…

It's just noise in an already noisy inbox.
