After launching and automating multiple brands over the years, I recently decided to help other service-based businesses systematize and automate their processes.
It became obvious that the best way to connect with other business owners was to grow my personal brand.
So… I recently jumped into social and created a system that has allowed me to consistently create content for all 6 major platforms. With this system, I only spend a few hours per week creating content.
Initially, I started with Twitter first.
Then I quickly realized that if I was creating content for Twitter, I should also share it on LinkedIn.
I was then convinced by close friends to get into TikTok, and I managed to go viral 3 times within the first week…
Once I was creating both text and video pieces of content, it only made sense to share it across the remaining major platforms (Instagram, Youtube, Facebook).
To clarify, virality is not something I intentionally chase. This is out of our control, and we should only focus on the things that we CAN control: Effort and consistency.
I should also add that my current follower base is less impressive than the progress I’ve been making and the people I’ve begun to network with using the system below.
My 4-Step Content Creation Process:
1. Clarify Content Pillars
If you look at popular social media accounts, you’ll notice that they mostly stick to only 2-3 topics. These are called your content pillars.
I decided that my content pillars would be entrepreneurship and productivity.
2. Content Creation & Scheduling — 1.5Hrs (Weekly)
If you leave it to the day of, life will always get in the way…
Once per week (currently on Thursday’s), I create 11 pieces of content for both Twitter and LinkedIn. That is, 2 per day from Monday to Friday, and one per day for Saturday and Sunday.
This leaves me with one open slot remaining. I use this to share a shorter version of my weekly newsletter (Happy Technology).
I enter these captured content ideas into a scheduler. Currently I use Hypefury.
3. Video Creation — 30min (Daily)
Once I’ve clarified and scheduled the posts for Twitter and LinkedIn, I also capture these posts into an iCloud Notes folder (anything that you have access to on your phone will work).
NOTE: I do this entire step on mobile, and it takes me ~30minutes per day.
Once per day, I open the folder on my phone and pick two from the list, and I create video versions of the posts.
I first upload it to TikTok because it’s easy to edit on mobile via the native editor.
Secondly, I download the edited version from TikTok without the watermark using SnapTik.
Thirdly, I upload it to a mobile caption tool. Currently I use Subcap.
Lastly, I take the exported video with captions and I upload it to Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, and Youtube Shorts.
Unfortunately, as of right now (but apparently soon to change), you cannot use third party scheduling tools for TikTok or Reels… So I manually post these daily via the process above.
4. Engagement
The amazing thing about TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and Youtube Shorts, is that they automatically push your videos outside of your followers.
But with Twitter and LinkedIn, I’ve learned that the best way to increase reach, is by engaging with bigger accounts in your niche. If you simply post, you’re unlikely to grow much.
Create a list of larger accounts in a similar niche that you can relate with and leave interesting comments comments to their posts.
Here is an example of one of my comments that got 11k+ impressions:
The Most Important Rule To Follow…
If I could only share one thing I’ve learned when it comes to content creation, it’s that you have to be consistent. This is more important than anything else.
I hope my systems work for you as well as it does for me… But if not, you have to create the system that allows you to be consistent. Building a personal brand is a long-term play.
Go ahead and try it:
- Clarify your 2-3 content pillars
- Block two hours on your calendar per week to create/schedule content for the following week
- IF you want to grow on video platforms: Create daily video versions of your scheduled posts
- Engage with larger accounts in a similar niche
See you all next Thursday đź‘‹
