If I had to pick 1 productivity system for you to implement… It would probably be a capture system.
It’s truly one of the easiest ways to increase productivity and reduce overwhelm.
What is it?
It’s a place to capture thoughts, ideas, or tasks as they come up and get it out of working memory.
Why is it so impactful?
Our minds are juggling many things. This makes it hard to be present and focused.
I’m sure it’s happened where you’re getting ready for bed, your mind starts racing, and you remember a million things that you have to do…
That’s because your mind knows they’re not captured elsewhere.
When you move things from your head to an organized place (physical or digital) your mind can relax because it now trusts that it will be dealt with.
How do you incorporate a capture system?
It’s quite simple…
In the beginning I recommend you pick a single capture bucket. The likely best candidate is a notes folder on your phone because it’s always accessible.
For this to work your capture bucket needs to be checked regularly…
If you capture a thought, idea, or task into a place that you’re not regularly checking, your brain will know and it will remain an open loop.
I recommend checking and clearing your capture bucket weekly.
