How to delegate with confidence

Delegating and outsourcing in business is hard.

You think it's because you lack SOPs (yes, that's a factor) but there's likely a bigger problem. You don't have a system to know if things are getting done, which prevents you from being able to delegate confidently.

First, let me clarify that creating SOPs is not difficult. You only need two things:

Record yourself doing the work, then upload it to a database with relevant tags so it's accessible.

Voila.

Now, onto the the real problem here. Accountability.

You need to be able to confidently know that things are getting done, otherwise you'll never be able to confidently delegate. I know because I've been there (many times).

But after implementing an accountability system, I'm delegating more than ever, and the best part is that I know things are getting done without having to constantly check.

Let's take this weekly newsletter as an example.

I create an SOP (video) on how to take my content, create the email, and schedule it. (Step 1 ✅)

Maria (my executive assistant - she's awesome) reviews the SOP. (Step 2 ✅)

Every Wednesday (my newsletter goes out on Thursdays), she executes the process. (Step 3 ✅)

Lastly, Maria uploads a screenshot confirming that a test email was sent to me for review. (Step 4 ✅)

Step 4 is critical. Every SOP needs to clearly define what "done" looks like. But the real magic happens in the next step…

If the screenshot is not uploaded to the system when it's supposed to, I get notified. This creates accountability in an automated fashion. Allowing me to confidently delegate and focus on the things that matter most.

When done right, automation can give you immense peace of mind.
