Today, I'm diving into a topic that's crucial for entrepreneurs and business owners who create content but rely solely on inbound strategies. You're missing out on a big opportunity if you're not utilizing cold outreach, especially on platforms like X.
While content creation and growing followers are essential, they're just a part of a larger strategy.
Understanding the Power of Presence
When you reach out to someone cold, the first thing they do is check your profile. Your online presence can influence their decision to follow you back, click on your website, subscribe to your newsletter, or even respond to your message. A strong, well-crafted presence promotes all of these actions.
So, here’s my 3-step process you can follow that generates my consulting business $16k+ every month.
My X/Twitter Cold Outreach System
1. Identify Your Target Market
This is an ongoing process. But you can start by considering the clients you've enjoyed working with and identifying common characteristics. Consider their industry, the problems you've solved for them, team size, and annual revenue. The more specific, the better.
2. Create a 'Dream 100' List
I've mentioned this concept before. But you need to compile a list of accounts with a larger following that includes your target market. It might be challenging to come up with 100 names initially, but the list will grow over time. This is key for both outbound efforts and engagement.
3. Start Sending DMs
There's no one-size-fits-all approach to this. Your cold DM script will evolve as you learn what works. The objective is to engage in conversation, understand their pain points, and offer a call to share ideas on how you can help.
Remember the 3 AAAs when responding to DMs: Acknowledge, Add value, Ask. Always end with a question to maintain control of the conversation.
Systemizing The Process
Once you start getting responses and booking sales calls, you can begin to standardize the process, allowing you to delegate and scale more easily.
You can do so by clarifying your target market further and expanding on your Dream 100 list (making it easier to identify prospects online), followed by the creation of scripts and common DM responses. Then, you're ready to hire someone to manage DMs, find new prospects, and book more sales calls.
As your process becomes more efficient and you accumulate enough sales calls, the next phase is to systemize the flow of these calls and hire a closer. But that's a topic for another day.
Remember, leveraging social media for cold outreach is not just about the number of followers or content you have. It's about how you use these tools to actively engage and connect with potential clients.
If you’re simply going to wait until someone raises their hand, you’re going to be waiting a while.
Go ahead and try it:
- Clarify your target market
- Create your Dream 100 list
- Send DMs to potential prospects
- Book sales calls to address their pain points
