How much data are you hoarding in your…
- CRM
- Client tracker
- Email software
…and those other 37 tools collecting digital dust?
You probably have fields on fields on fields—storing every last detail.
From a client’s favorite snack to the last time they blinked.
And you keep adding more.
Because more data = more power, right?
WRONG.
More data = more distractions. More clutter. More time wasted.
Here’s the cycle I see founders get trapped in:
1. Decides to track all the things
2. Creates a new field/property (because “why not?”)
3. Spends hours updating every record
4. Spends even more time maintaining it
5. Fails to keep data up to date
6. Realizes half the system is a hot mess
7. Loses faith in the data
8. Feels the creeping dread of overwhelm
And the cycle repeats.
So let’s ask the million-dollar question: What data is actually worth storing?
Surprise: The answer is simple.
Only store data that is ACTIONABLE.
If it’s not helping you make decisions, automate processes, or drive revenue—ditch it.
Here’s the real formula:
More systems = More complexity = More Friction toward your goals
And complexity is the silent killer of businesses.
Trust me... I’ve seen complexity bring businesses to their knees.
So before adding another field, ask yourself (and your team):
How is this actionable?
If it’s not, don’t store it.
Because the only data worth keeping… is data you actually use.
See you all next Thursday 👋
