Long emails don’t close deals.
They murder them in cold blood.
Think about your own inbox.
When’s the last time you saw a 12-paragraph cold pitch and thought:
“I can’t wait to cancel my afternoon plans and read this novel.”
And I’m not just referring to emails, this applies to your DMs and social connections.
After doing cold outreach for years (on multiple platforms), here’s what’s gotten me paying clients:
→ talk about them, not you
→ focus on one clear problem
→ keep it super short and informal
→ always end it with a simple (this/that) question
That’s it.
Please, please, don’t start by introducing yourself…
No one cares.
They also don’t care about your service or tool, only the outcome or problem you can help solve.
If they’re not sold in 3 lines, 30 paragraphs won’t help.
It will actually decrease reply rates.
Picture this…
Your prospect is standing in an elevator.
You’ve got 10 seconds before they get off.
Can you make them care before the ding?
That’s what it takes today to get someone’s attention.
And why do I say to keep it casual and informal?
I’ll tell you (this is very important)…
Prospects are going to mimic your energy and style.
If you send a DM that looks like a long email, with big words,
they’re going to take their time to review and create a formal response…
Instead they’ll forget, and never actually respond.
But if you message them sounding like a friend that’s texting them a quick question,
they’re more likely to “text you back” in the moment.
Lastly, end it with a simple question, always.
→ Can I send it over?
→ Should we set up a short call?
→ Is this something you’re trying to solve?
They should be able to respond with a simple yes or no.
The less they have to think, the more likely they are to reply.
So grab your keyboard and go full serial killer on the fluff.
Shorter messages = more replies
More replies = more convos
More convos = more calls
More calls = more sales
