If you have a team but still knee-deep in client chaos…
something’s off.
You didn’t hire people so you could keep being the emergency plumber for every leaky project.
You hired them so you could finally exhale.
And just maybe, have a bit of extra time to actually grow the biz, right?
Well, I’m going to give you the simplest system we’ve implemented that’s helped us and clients achieve just that…
It has 2 parts:
- The Client Tracker
- The Weekly Team Check-In
But don’t worry about the tool we use…
you probably don’t need another software to cause more distractions.
So, what do you need?
A few simple things inside of whatever tool you’re using to manage clients.
1. Client Name
2. Client Owner
Boom.
On to the weekly check-in.
(bear with me)
Once all your clients are in a single database, and you’ve assigned full ownership to a team member, the weekly check-in makes the magic happen.
Here’s how it goes…
Each team member goes through each of their clients and describes 3 things:
1. What we did last week
2. What we’re working on now
3. What we’re working on next
The whole point is to have them clarify last, now, and next.
Giving you just enough context to know what’s going on without being in the weeds,
and forces the team to clarify on their own what the next step should be.
You’ll still have an opportunity to give feedback (if needed).
This is the ultimate way to create ownership and accountability.
Plus, it makes everybody on the team a lot more proactive, and you a lot less reactive.
When this is done well…
You stop firefighting.
When you stop firefighting…
You start leading.
And when you start leading?
You finally get the breathing room to focus on growth instead of damage control.
